About the Department

The English Department oversees the continuous assessment of academic curricula and the development of students' language skills. The English Department was established in the 2018-2019 academic year to prepare graduates with a high level of educational and academic guidance under the supervision of a distinguished group of professors. The first graduating class was in 2021-2022. The department aims to create a learning environment for the following skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, in accordance with international standards in teaching methods.

The effective work on developing curricula is to promote one of the leading academic scholars in the teaching and learning of the College of English Language Education / Jadu. It advocates for teaching English as a comprehensive skill and enhancing the level of English proficiency.

Developing and qualifying faculty members who possess self-discipline, professional commitment, and a responsible spirit to become more productive members of Libyan society. In addition to providing exceptional service to the educational community in general and advancing the field of scientific research in English in particular.

  • Enhancing students' communication skills in English.
  • Preparing and qualifying graduates to serve the community in related fields such as translation, literature, and teaching as a foreign language.
  • Helping students learn about different cultures through the English context.
  • Improving English language proficiency through a better understanding of English language structure.
  • Students acquire four skills, theories, gains, and applications of the English language.


 

Department Head's Speech

I am pleased and honored to welcome you all and to express my deep pride and appreciation for the achievements of the English Department in scientific, educational, and cultural accomplishments, thanks to the efforts of all of you—faculty members, diligent students, and the supportive administration.

The English language is no longer just a means of communication; it has become a bridge to knowledge, a tool for interacting with the world, and a key to academic and professional opportunities. From this perspective, our department is committed to providing high-quality education that encourages critical thinking, fosters creativity, and prepares students for a promising future in various fields.

We continuously strive to develop our programs and curricula, provide a stimulating educational environment, and open avenues for academic collaboration both locally and internationally, in line with the vision and mission of our institution.

I thank everyone who has contributed and continues to contribute to elevating the name of the department, and I urge our dear students to continue their hard work and diligence, to participate actively, and to always strive for excellence.
